Language Exchange Programme for Japanese Visitors

Rongo Language & Cultural Exchange Programme:

A month at Rongo as a volunteer for the LivinginPeace Project is a great opportunity to meet people from all over the world, learn new skills such as; building, growing vegetables and fruit, permaculture and organic gardening techniques, hostel management and farming.

It’s a chance to speak naturally in daily conversation and to practice your English with people who will help you improve and refine your conversational skills and build confidence. We have a dedicated team of wwoofers (Willing Workers On Organic Farms) (www.wwoof.co.nz) and volunteers who whistle while they work and have plenty of fun while we get the daily jobs done.

Your English ability will rapidly improve as you’ll have an opportunity to immerse yourself in the language and put your theoretical knowledge into practice in a peaceful, relaxed and friendly environment with people who have time and patience to help you with natural expression, idioms, colloquial terms etc and help you build confidence in the language.

The one-month programme will include camping, hiking, mountain climbing, fishing, caving, bush walking, bird watching etc, etc as well as helping the Rongo team with their daily chores, cooking, cleaning, customer relations, gardening, farm work etc.

How much does it cost?

Airfare from Narita to Christchurch: (Subject to airline rates)
Transport: Christchurch to Karamea: $NZ150 (about 10,000 yen)
Accommodation for one month: $NZ700 (about 56,000 yen)
Food: $20 per day for one month $NZ$600 (about 48,000 yen)(We will provide evening meal and breakfast everyday)
Other expenses: Tramping, hiking, adventure tours, mountain climbing, kayaking, rafting, fishing activities may involve a small additional cost)
Total for one month: $NZ 1875 (about ¥150,000)
